Business types
How Rufio decides whether your kind of business is supported
What it is
This page explains the rule Rufio uses to decide whether a business type is supported. It is not a list of which ones qualify — that list lives in exactly one place, kept current automatically: who Rufio is for. Read this page to understand how that answer gets decided, so a trade name that doesn't appear on its own doesn't read as "not supported" when it might instead be filed under a broader one. Knowing the rule matters most in that exact moment — when your trade's name doesn't turn up by itself and you're deciding whether that means "not yet" or "check somewhere else first".
How it works
Rufio doesn't build one general version of itself and hope it fits every trade. Each business type gets its own foundation: a version of Rufio set up around how that specific kind of business actually runs, built and published before that type goes live. A business type counts as supported only when both of these are true — it is a concrete Google Business Category, meaning the exact category a business would pick for its own Google listing, and Rufio has a published foundation built specifically for that category.
That test matters because of how trade names actually work in practice. Some categories are narrower versions of a broader trade, and Rufio treats them that way rather than requiring a separate foundation for each one: a narrower category resolves to its parent's foundation. Heating Contractor and Air Conditioning Contractor, for example, both resolve to the same HVAC foundation — one foundation, reached under either name. So if your exact trade name doesn't turn up on its own, check whether a broader category it falls under does before assuming Rufio doesn't cover you.
There's one more piece worth knowing, because it's what makes the current list trustworthy rather than only convenient. Rufio does not fall back to a general-purpose list when it can't confirm your category is supported. If it can't verify that your business type has a published foundation, it says so rather than guessing or reusing an old answer. That's a deliberate choice: a wrong "yes" costs you far more than an honest "not yet".
Who Rufio is for is the address to trust for the current answer. An older link to /business-types still reaches the same, current catalog — it's kept only so a bookmark from before doesn't break.
Boundaries
This page deliberately carries no list of business types, and states no count of how many are supported. The list changes as new foundations get built and published, and a list written into this page would start going stale the moment it was written — one more thing for you to wonder whether to still trust. Who Rufio is for reads the live answer every time; a copy of it here could only ever be a snapshot of some day in the past.
So treat who Rufio is for as the only place to check whether your specific business type is currently supported. This page also does not explain what a foundation actually changes for your day-to-day work, or which specific capabilities apply to your trade — the full capability list and the pages under what Rufio does cover that. And it does not cover a much older address, /industries — that one is retired on purpose, with no catalog behind it and no redirect forward, so a bookmark that old needs replacing rather than following.
